This game was produced by T Ward & Co - Paternoster Row, London - It is a question and answer game - Concerned with the planets and probably aimed at education rather than pleasure - The Planets known at the time (Q19) are - "Mercury, Venus, the Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Georgium Sidus; - to which may be added, the newly discovered planets, Vesta, Juno, Ceres and Pallas" - Georgium Sidus is Uranus named after George III by its discover Sir William Herschel who discovered it I 1781. - Vesta was discovered in 1807 Juno in 1804, Pallas in 1802 and Ceres on 1/01/1801 - as these were described as newly discovered the date seemed within ten years ie c 1820- but certainly prior to 1846 when Neptune was discovered

Astronomical Cards - Condition The cards are excellent - no tears, creases or bends - clean - The box has no top by design and is very good

An unusually version of this game. All the pairs are very interesting and well drawn characters - Mr Beeryman is hanging onto a street light, Mre Beeryman at home waiting, Mr Stager with a hat in his hand whilst Mrs Stager, in a very low cut dress, takes a bow
We have never seen this game before or indeed any game by Perry who was a minor playing cards maker in the 1860/1870.

Perry's Old Maid – Condition Complete (we believe- 15 set of cards plus Old Maid) - Cards are used, one is missig a corner, The Old Maid card has a small tear / Rules - original / No box

c1880 English Royal Old Maid Card Game -
An unusual form of Old Maid, made in England by A N Myers & Co
Reichardt's Historical Game of Old Maid - Dedicated to Prince Alfred of Edinburgh - It
It is an unusual version, based on the ruling Kings and Queens of England -
Queen Elizabeth I is the Old Maid - the only British queen not to marry
However there were four male rulers who did not marry and the first instruction is to remove these cards from the pack (presumably they were included for completeness and educational purposes)
The cards are engraved - This set is uncoloured

Old Maid – Condition cards - good - a few are foxed, one is creased / No Box. / Rules photocopy

This is an unusually game by Woolley, a printer of playing cards, card games and board games in the 1880/90s. It was published in 1889 and sold for (8/- per dozen - trade).The cards are black and white with Christmassy backs
