These two sheets of cards are cards from J Lee’s Comic Lottery Amusement.
We have had the complete set (44)(as cards) in the original wrapper in the past. Pictures can be provided to the buyer of this item if requested. This is two sheets of cards (24 cards). There is some damage and repair hence pictures of the backs have also been shown.
John Lee was a wood engraver, working in Hatton Garden in the 1790s

Condition - Some damage as the pictures show, a tear that has been repaired on the back (looks more like a crease from the front) - wear at the corners of the "cards" (ie in the sheet) probably from where they were folded and a couple of small holes. The cards are colored and interesting - one states "Good luck, to this good company presents ten thousand pounds with J Lee's compliments" (long s used - so difficult to read initiallly). These sort of cards were often used at twetfth night parties

Reference - American Antiquarian Society - A National Research Library of American History, Literature, and Culture has one card listed.
There is also a reference to a version printed by Pease & Warren, c1853 in US (this company appeared to have rebranded a number of English Games at this time).
Probably printed by D Ogilvy in the UK
The cards are different from the pictures in Peter Puzzlewig's book of the same name

Alliteration - Condition - Cards are poor - some damage also very discolord - 21 cards (missing P,T,U,X,Y out of 24 (ref World Cat) or probably 26

Paper Heart
This piece of ephemera is hard to describe. It is a folded paper heart which has 4 openings each made up of 4 heart shape, which in turn have two questions on them (so 32 questions). In addition the outer sides also have questions
The hand writing is difficult to read but there are question such as
What are we all doing at the same time
What insect would denote that the Spanish were defeated

Condition – There is wear to the cover. One of the "face" has a small portion missing - One of the small sides is split . It fold up flat. It is small approx 2 inches high at the shortest part of the heart , 3.5 inches at the widest part

Whilst these are now considered politically incorrect they were a popular children’s game in the 1950s.
The complete game would consist of 40 cards - 4 sets of 10 this is just one set of ten.

Condition - Cards - ten cards from a "ten card" to a "one card" - all pictured / very light use / odd nicks at the base, very colourful cards
