Playing Cards Box – Chinese Style Patterned Top
This box was made c1780 – 1830 – The box has space for six packs of cards
inside – it measures 10.5 by 8.5 by 3 inches – The interior is red – The
exterior is black with a Chinese style pattern in gold around the sides
The top has a raised design with a Chinese Gentleman by a bridge – there
is a little damage to two of the pillars of the bridge but otherwise
the condition is good – The
box itself is a little wrapped so it does shut but not perfectly -

c1810 Georgian Playing
Card Box
This playing card box is made of paper on thick card – It
was dated by the cards which came with it and appeared to have been in
it the whole time from their clean condition - The card box is an
irregular octagonal in shape ie eight sided but not of equal length sides.
It measures 8.75 by 6.5 by 1.7 inches at the widest points - The interior
had four compartments – two for chips and two for playing cards – these
two both contain original card boxes.(3.875 by 2.75 by 1.25 inches) – The
exterior of the main box is a little scuffed at the edges – odd small
rubs have resulted in a very small amount of paper loss - the gold
edging at the bottom is worn in some places – but overall is it in
very good condition – The interior is lined with original blue paper – a
little wear on the lid – base almost as new – just odd scuffs – The
two card boxes are also blue paper lined – one has a piece of the
lining paper missing at the base – otherwise no damage – there
would have been ribbons to help get cards in and out of the boxes – these
are both missing but the original holes for these are present and undamaged – little
light scuffing on the outer boxes edges. |

C1830 Regency (Georgian)
Playing Card Box
This is an asymmetric (ie two sets of four sides
are the same length not all eight) – octagon shaped card box measuring
approx 11inches by 9 inches. It is made of rosewood with brass inlaid.
No Key.
It
has 4 compartments for playing cards and 5 for gaming counters. There are
also 4 items used for lifting out the playing cards – these are
card sized covered to match the box with ribbon attached on which the cards
were placed – the ribbons could then be used to lift the cards plus
base – one has both ribbons the others one ribbon.
The inside
of the box is in very good condition – original covering, clean and
bright. The exterior is very good – missing a couple of short brass
inlays from the top and three from the sides – here is a very small
knock on the front edge – otherwise it is lovely – cards are
for illustration and NOT included in the price – however we can provide
period card if required at additional cost. |

Old Straw Work Playing Card Box
This card box is made of straw work - And we believe it is early, c1860s,
- from the cards that were in it – but they could have been added later
- It is made of card covered with straw work - It is a two part telescopic
style box - With a piece of ribbon to lift the lid off - There is some
damage ie missing pieces of the straw work - Which can be seen - There
is also, we believe, some restoration at the base, - The brown area is,
we believe, not original - But it matches well with the side but differs
in style with the top - Any further pictures or details please ask.

1901 Silver Bridge Box with playing Cards
Hallmarked London 1901 - This item is a beaten silver box 4.5 by 3.0 by 2.25
inches - The box is beautifully made - The lid lifts up to reveal bridge
score pads - in the lid a Bridge Booklet - The front drops down to reveal
two packs of playing cards - The cards are wide - by Goodall & Son
Limd - And of the same period as the box.
The box is excellent – no dents or knocks. The silk lining is v good but there is a split on the silk in the lid where the booklet is held. The cards are v good – one lightly creased (scanned) the rest excellence – There are only two score pads – both with silver pencils (we cannot see a hallmark on these) – They
have both been used but there are still sheets left. The pads have identical
details at the back. They are however slightly different in color and the
