British Playing Card Manufacture in the 19th Century
Author: Michael H Goodall.A4 format written and produced by Mike Goodall. -
Mike lays out the players and the printing methods employed in the 19th Century for us all to enjoy and learn by. He has extracted articles from contemporary publications which give a real feel to how things were done and how the cards reached the shops. - An invaluable alphabetical listing of card makers, addresses and period of manufacture is included plus a listing of makers who specialised in card games makes this an indespensible book for the beginer and expert alike. -
Facinating statistics of company production give one the sense of populaity
of playing cards, despite the high tax on them, and it makes you just wonder "where have they all gone".
