New Zealand Scenic Playing Cards 1903
Probably the first Pictorial Playing Cards issued in New Zealand by Muir & Moodie of Dunedin.
This was a company which specialised in negatives of New Zealand Scenery.
This is a pack of 52 cards plus an interesting Joker and a title card - the box is broken with just the back and front present.
The cards are in 'used' condition but there are no creases ortears.
The Ace of Spades is very distinctive.
Interestingly the cards have a Duplex Index showing Alpha/Numerical values as well as small inset cards with the exception of the Court Cards and the Aces.
The Court cards are modelled on the English Standard design.
The subject matter is Black & White views of Towns, distinctive scenic views and of indigenous Maoris.

MEDIAVAL PLAYING CARDS 1897.
This pack of 52 cards lacks the Joker., never-the-less this is still quite a rare pack as its non-standard court format was unpopular with buyers and consequently there was only a short print run.
The cards have been well played with and would rate them 4.5 out of 10.
There is no box.
There is very minor colour variation on the backs probably due to light exposure.
There are no bends and tears but the occasional non-distracting marks on the face of the face commensurate with the rating above.
