c1855 PILGRIM'S PROGRESS DISSECTED PUZZLE (Jigsaw) IN ORIGINAL BOX - Published by "John Betts, 115 The Strand" - Hand-colored lithograph - signed by JRB (Barfoot) - The puzzle tells the story of Christian's journey - 35 scenes are shown - The puzzle should be "accompanied by a book - numbers refer to the page in the book" - The book referred to is missing - the puzzle is in good condition - missing two small intersection knobs on two pieces - one piece that has been replaced with a hand painted piece (this looks as if it was done long ago) - There are odd scuff marks on the puzzle - the picture can be clearly seen - The original box is complete - one side is starting to separate and would possibly benefit from regluing - The lid is missing a small strip (probably about 3mm long) at the top - it shows the picture of Christian in front of the cross with angels watching ("Pilgrim's Progress" at the top) _ Barfoot's symbolic roses are in the bottom left hand corner.- There is a crack across the centre - taped at the back but not a complete break- Postage Category D |

c1880s THE SPEAKING TOYBOOK ABC ALPHABET ANIMAL BOOK - Animals Noises by puling string - - This item is a book that consists of preface and 7 double pages - The preface has a poem on the left and the following on the title page - "The Speaking Toybook reproducing - The Voices of the Cock, the Goat, the Cat, the Bird, the Lamb and the Cuckoo - Dedicated to the children by one who loves them" - Six of the pages have a picture on one page, text on the other - And an arrow pointing to a tab which when pulled makes the sound of the animal - The centre page has a alphabetic poem - The book measures 7.25 by 8.5 by 2 inches - The book is in very good condition - here are odd stains to the cover but no damage - The pages are all complete undamaged - a little duty with age but still v bright and colourful - Of the six string pulls that make the animal noise - two are missing - The rest make the appropriate noise when pulled - The string pulls have ivory tops to easy the pulling.- Postage Category |

Mr Frog going Wooing - Children's Book This item is a sixteen page booklet That tells the story of a Frog going Wooing The book is Illustrated by William Foster Engraved and Printed by Edmund Evans Published by George Routledge & Sons Limited The art work is lovely - color lithe printed ad v expressive It has a girl name written in pencil on the front And dated 23rd October 1892 - which would appear the correct period The book tells the story of Mr Frog who with his friend Mr Rat goes to woo a Mrs Mouse And they dine together when A cat and her kittens come in and kill Mr Rat and Mrs Mouse Mr Frog runs away - but is killed by a Lily-white duck A sad politically incorrect tale. The book is good + condition There is a small tear on the front cover, A small piece of page three is missing The pages are slightly loose All pages are scanned so you can see the condition.- Postage Category B |

1897 Dr Barnardo’s Bubbles + Lost Dog Ad Frys Book Weekly - One Penny 28 August 1897 No 166 Vol VII - This Magazine consist of 16 pages including the cover - The inner front and inner and out back covers have wonderful period advertisement on them Including “Fry’s pure concentrated Cocoa” – “Baby’s Soap”, ”Parker Silk Umbrellas”, And a beautiful color advertisement for different soaps by Blondeau et Cie Six pages are in beautifully color lithe printed There are details of the principles and methods of Dr Barnardo’s Homes - The magazine is in very good condition Complete – the front cover has a few nicks at the bottom – but v small There are a few light creases mainly at the corners And a little splitting to the cover at the fold (about 0.5 inches)- Postage Category A |
