THE RACE (Metal Horses) BACKGAMMON.DRAUGHTS and GO BANG - The box contains the original rules (loosely attached to the inner lid), A three folds card board - featuring draughts,Go bang, Backgammon, and inside The Race Game (all excellent - v slight wear on one fold on the board), five sections in the box contain six metal horses on stands (four are undamaged, one has a missing tail and one a missing stand) These are small v fragile and probably cast iron - There are a number of halma style pieces (presumably used for Go bang) - 12 black and 11 white wooden pieces (this would seem three/four short in each color for backgammon) - small bone chips - and a round tray probably for the bets? The box is excellent no split corners or damage - the box label is lovely and shows the race game - with the title "Compendium of Games" - "Published by JWS & S New York and produced at the works in Bavaria" Winning Post Flag is not unlike the Union Jack!! Probably made or adapted for the England market - A picture in the History of Spears shows a games compendium dated 1889 - a larger compendium - but it seems likely from this that the dish is original.- Postage Category |
